Cobb County Business Highlights Security System Failures

A burglary and ATM theft occurred at a Mableton, Georgia shopping center in the early morning hours of April 9, with suspects using a U-Haul to break into multiple businesses and steal an ATM before police were notified hours later.

On April 9 at approximately 4:39 AM, a burglary and ATM theft began at a shopping center in Mableton, Georgia.

A U-Haul was used to force entry into a Family Dollar, causing significant damage. When that attempt failed, the suspects moved next door to a coin laundry, where they successfully removed an ATM and fled the scene.

Police were not contacted until approximately 6:50 AM. By that time, the suspects had already moved between businesses, stolen an ATM, and left without interruption.

This wasn’t just a visibility issue. It was an awareness issue.

During that window:

  • A vehicle forced entry
  • Suspects moved between businesses
  • An ATM was stolen

All without interruption.

Without proper camera placement and real-time monitoring, critical details like vehicle identification and license plates can easily be missed.

Where Systems Fall Short

Many businesses have cameras or alarms in place.

But if those systems aren’t:

  • Positioned correctly
  • Configured for real-time alerts
  • Integrated with intrusion detection

They don’t stop incidents. They only record them.

What Should Have Happened

A properly designed security system could have changed the outcome.

Immediate Detection
Intrusion alerts triggered the moment impact occurred.

Real-Time Alerts
Someone is notified while it’s happening, not hours later.

Smart Video Surveillance
Cameras track movement and capture critical details as events unfold.

License Plate Recognition (LPR)
Vehicles entering and exiting are identified, giving law enforcement actionable information.

Integrated Systems
Everything works together so nothing gets missed.

Security Should Work in Real Time

At K9 All Systems, we design, install, and maintain integrated security solutions that protect your people, property, and operations, including:

  • Video surveillance
  • Access control
  • Intrusion detection systems
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Fully integrated security platforms

Security should do more than show you what happened.
It should tell you while it’s happening.

If something like this happened at your property, would you know in real time?
